The members of this flourishing section play on three half size, quality lawns that are regularly maintained by professional grounds staff. Two of these lawns can be used as one, near full size lawn. Play is available throughout the whole year. During the months of May to September inclusive, whites are worn during play.
During the season a number of internal Club competitions are held. (Details of this year’s events are posted in the Clubhouse). The Club also arranges friendly matches against other local Croquet clubs. We are affiliated to the South West Federation and our Club takes part in League matches throughout the summer months. We also participate in the National Croquet Association Golf Tournaments.
All these matches are played under the Golf croquet rules. However, games of the Association version can be arranged on request.
The Croquet section has a strong social element. Club play is held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1.30pm, and on Monday and Friday evenings from 6pm. During these times, members of all abilities ‘mix and match’ to enjoy their Croquet in a convivial atmosphere. Prospective new members are welcome at any of these Club play sessions providing they contact Mrs Jean Eburne 01275 848300 in advance, to arrange a mutually convenient time for them to be met and shown around.
Coaching
The Club has three qualified Croquet Coaches. To book a coaching session please contact the Club Croquet coach Ros Key-Pugh on 01225 427525.
