Toms off to Australia

As you all know Tom Therrien has accepted an offer to coach in Perth, Australia.   TT Tennis Coaching will remain at Lansdown. Ricky Reardon will manage affairs and oversee the Programme and the relationship between TT Tennis Coaching and the Club.  Tom will retain overall control of TT Tennis Coaching as his business. 

We wish Ricky every success in his new role and hope you will all offer him full support.

Farewell Drinks – Saturday 21 January 2012 from 5pm until Late.

Please come and join Tom for a farewell drink at the Club on Saturday 21st January from 5pm.  We wish him well in his Australian adventure.  The bar will be open late serving food and drinks.

Junior Tennis

Junior Leader Board

The junior leader board has kicked of and has started extremely well; we have had 9 matches played in the various age groups. (varying from 14u to 18u) With a special mention to our most dedicated competitor in this event 'Tom Van Gelderen', who has played 6 matches, Well done!  

There are still matches that have to be played and we only have till February half term to finish them. So please look on the board outside shop to see who you have to play or liaise with Tom Smith on tomsmith2806@gmail.com in regards with who you need to play

Lansdown Mini Tour Winter Series

Our next mini series event is 'Wimbledon’' for Red, Orange and Green players on Sunday 5 February, 2012. If you are interested in playing, grab a form from the club or speak to one of the coaches. Then the final event of the series is the US Open on Sunday 11 March 2012.

Aegon Team Tennis 2012

The 'Aegon Team Tennis 2012’ entry packs have arrived and ricky is in the process of entering our teams. If you are interested in playing for the teams, or even better captaining a team please let him know. Team matches run usually from mid April to late June. Teams vary from juniors and mini tennis to Adult Open.

Coaching

Rich is in New Zealand for a belated Honeymoon – Lucky him!  He will be back at the club on the 27th January, 2012.

Skills and Drills
There will be no organised Skills and Drills sessions until the 30th January, however there is nothing stopping the usual suspects from booking the courts and doing some of the normal drills we go through.  There should be no rusty rackets on Rich’s return.

Junior Coaching
There is no Junior Coaching now until the 28th January for the Saturday groups and the 1st February for the Wednesday group.  This is due to me being on my honeymoon, apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Squash League

Congratulations to both the Men's A & C team that came 3rd in Prem A and Div 2 respectively and the ladies team who finished mid table.  Unfortunately the Men's B team had a tough season after being promoted and have slipped back down into Prem C.

The spring league season is to start soon in the New Year.  If anyone would like to play for any of the teams, either all the time on an ad-hoc basis then please contact Keith Anderson (keithganderson@yahoo.com) or Andy Ewings (andy.e@bluefusesystems.com).

NEW!! Training Squads NEW!!
A few people have enquired about doing some regular group training, so in February I will be looking to start a few groups.  These groups will consist of four players of similar standard who will come together every week or every other week to train.  The session content will be led by the participants but will mainly focus on consistency of play, high intensity drills, strength and conditioning and movement ability.  These sessions will cost £5 each.  If you are interested let me know and I will begin to form the first groups.  You can also form your own group if you have some preferred people to train with.

Friends Go Free Fortnight
In conjunction with England Squash, Lansdown Tennis and Squash Club are offering the opportunity to bring a friend to a variety of sessions during the first two weeks of February.

Croquet

The croquet section are looking forward to some drier and less gusty weather and meanwhile when rain stops play, meeting up for drinks and nibbles in the cosy clubroom.

All Members: A reminder on Visitors/ Guest Fees

Members may bring a guest to the club for a fee of £5 per visit.(Juniors £1). The same guest may only visit the club five times in one year, after five visits they must become a member if they wish to continue playing at the Club. Guests must sign the Visitors book and pay their fees before they play.

Please pay the guest fee into the Visitors box (Just to the right of the bar) or see a member of staff for more information.
