League and Team tennis

Lansdown enter mens, ladies, mixed, junior and senior teams in a variety of local and national leagues.

Avon League
Running from May to July on Friday evenings we have several mens and ladies teams in the summer league – with playing standards ranging from improvers to county players so there’s lots of opportunity to join in.

Matches consist of 4 players per team, with two doubles matches for each pair, best of 3 sets

The Winter Avon league runs from October to March and is usually played on Sunday mornings. This is a mixed team consisting of 2 men & 2 ladies so you play one doubles and then one mixed match, best of 3 sets.

Wiltshire League
As Lansdown Club sits on the borders of Somerset and Wiltshire we are also able to take part in the Chippenham & District League (also known as the Wiltshire League). This includes teams from Malmesbury in the north, through Devizes, Biddestone, Frome, to Marshfield and Wellow south of Bath.

The format for matches – 2 sets of Tennis played against 2 pairs, followed by hospitality from the Home team – offers highly competitive tennis combined with sociability.

The Summer Season runs from April to August with ladies / mens fixtures played on a Wednesday evening and mixed matches on a Monday evening.

Team Tennis
This involves County, Regional and National leagues offering a very high standard of competitive match play. Matches take place from April to June, and consist of one singles match each, followed by doubles.

National Premier League
We also take part in the NPL dependent on player availability. This is an indoor league so matches are played at an alternative indoor venue in Bath or at other clubs in the South West. For ‘home’ matches Lansdown then host the players for a meal afterwards. These matches consist of two doubles matches, best of three sets.
